Police: 4-year-old who drowned in Michigan pool left unsupervised for 35 minutes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities confirm a 4-year-old who drowned in a pool in southeastern Michigan last weekend was left unsupervised for at least a half hour.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the Deer Lake Athletic Club around 7:30 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, three people were performing CPR on the child. Deputies took over lifesaving efforts, but the child was ultimately pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Investigators say two women brought six children to the pool at the athletic club that day. They ranged in age from 12 to 4.
“After placing several flotation devices into the pool, the women left the children unattended and went to the club’s bar/restaurant area where they ordered food and beverages,” the OCSO said in a statement. “The investigation revealed the women remained in the bar/restaurant area for approximately 35 minutes while the children were left alone in the pool area.”
The pool is at least 3 feet deep. The victim was found and removed from the pool by her sister.
