An active Amber Alert is underway for a 13-year-old Detroit boy last seen Tuesday night, who was possibly kidnapped on the city’s east side, police said.

Deontae Mitchell’s cousin told police the boy was grabbed by a man and held against his will at about 10:30 p.m. in a black 2002 Chevrolet Impala. This was shortly after an incident at Warren Nino’s Market on 15901 East Warren, according to a news release from Detroit police.

The two boys had been on their bicycles at the market. “The cousin stated a drunk man dropped some money while urinating outside the market. The cousin stated Deontae Mitchell picked up the money and both cousins pedaled off on their bicycles,” according to the news release.

A short time later, the cousin learned that Deontae had been grabbed by a man in an Impala. Crystal Mitchell, Deontae’s mother, hasn’t heard from her son, and no demands have been made, police said.
